Q: Does your office provide Mohs surgery?
A: No. Mohs surgery is only needed in specific cases. Most cases can be treated without Mohs surgery. If your condition requires Mohs surgery, the physician may refer you to a Mohs surgeon for treatment. Dr. Sherrill does provide surgical procedures with rapid frozen sections. This process is similar to Mohs and allows for microscopic evaluation of the tissue specimen during the surgery. This is only done if needed, and it is coordinated with the local hospital pathologists.
Q: Do I need a referral for an appointment?
A: No. Our office does not require a referral for an appointment. If you have an HMO with your insurance company it will require a referral. Just have your primary care provider call our office to schedule so that we can obtain the information needed to process your claim.
Q: Will my insurance cover cosmetic/aesthetic services?
A: No. Insurance does not cover cosmetic and aesthetic services. We do offer other payment options, including payment plans. Our payment plans go through a company called Care Credit. Click on the Care Credit link for more information.
Q: What insurance does your office accept?
A: We accept a wide variety of insurances. We are in network with Health One Alliance and Alliant Health Plans, which includes several local businesses. Just look for this logo on your insurance card. We also participate with most BlueCross BlueShield, CIGNA and Aetna plans. We also accept United; however it is only with state health benefit plans.
Q: What are some of the other procedures and services you provide?
A: Our office provides may services including but not limited to skin cancer screening and treatment, lesion and cyst removal, scar revision and reconstruction.
